Intercity buses (KTEL)

The intercity buses of Chania (KTEL) cover a large portion of all villages and points of interest of the region. It is a modern bus fleet, with mainly new vehicles and a route network that runs through the villages of western Crete.

Chania and Rethymnon, the two regions of western Crete, share a “common” bus network of intercity buses, that provides access to other parts of the island, such as Heraklion and Lasithi.

The intercity bus is considered an extremely reliable means of transport, and, specifically in Chania, it serves with frequent itineraries the passengers who want to move from one end of the town to another, or even to the nearby beaches, such as Nea Chora or Platanias.

The head offices of the intercity buses are located in Chania, on Kydonia street. The itineraries are posted on the KTEL website and especially during the tourist season, which in Chania are the months from April to September, their frequency to popular destinations is increased.

With the intercity buses, you can reach Kasteli, Paleochora, Elafonisi, Sougia and Agia Irini Gorge, Sfakia, Kolympari, Kare, Palea Roumata, Georgioupoli, Kournas, Vamos, Beach Almyrida, as well as many other villages of Chania.

Very frequent are the routes that connect the city with the port of Souda and Chania airport.
