Karaves

Next to the port of Gavdos lies the beach of Karaves which is small with pebbles and deep blue waters. It is the ideal choice to cool off in the sea as soon as you arrive on the island or just before you leave Gavdos! Near the beach and the port of Karaves you will find taverns and rooms to let.

Close to the beach of Karaves you will also find the beach of Korfos, with the picturesque church of Agios Georgios and a spring of fresh water, a rare occurrence, since it does not rain often on the island and locals often have troubles with the water.

A path connects Korfos Beach with the port of Karaves. But visitors can also use the bus to move around.

In the region of Korfos there are also ruins dating from the Late Minoan Period, 1600 BC.
