Corfu may be famous for its lush vegetation but, nature has endowed this island with landscapes of incredible beauty. The alternate rural landscape with the forest areas and the verdant olive groves at the foot of hills, which just touch the indented shores, synthesize a beautiful scene. Mountains, large and small lakes, rivers, caves and waterfalls, are part of the sights of nature  which you must definitely visit.

The entire island is full of paths, for the enthusiasts of walking tourism, trails away from the noisy touristy places, paths that traverse through wetlands, hill ranges, fertile valleys and secluded beaches. Around the island you will also find many scattered small islands, ideal destinations for exploration by boat, for fishing or even for quick dips.

    Today, the Saltmarshes of Lefkimmi are one of the most important wetlands of Corfu, as the production of salt has stopped since 1988.
