Philharmonic of Korakiana «Spyros Samaras»

The Philharmonic of Korakiana «Spyros Samaras» was founded in 1958 and resides in Ano Korakiana, offering musical education to children and adults in the surrounding region. The Philharmonic of Korakiana «Spyros Samaras» has a dark blue uniform with yellow stripes and is one of the greatest musical-educational societies of the island. Its band is comprised of about 100 musicians while it also maintains a bandina for small children, a choir and a dancing department where, traditional dances are taught.

The Philharmonic of Korakiana «Spyros Samaras» was named after the great musician of the Ionian school, Spyros Samaras, who was also the composer of the Olympic Hymn with verses of Kostis Palamas (1896).
