Neochori

Neohori is a village of Erissos in Kefalonia and is located in the northwestern part of the island. It is built at an altitude of 438 meters above sea level and belongs to “Panochoria” of Erissos along with the villages, Plagia, Vari, Patrikata and the surrounding Komitata. Neohori is the official name of the village; however, in Kefalonia you will hear say it “Niochori”.

Neohori is more isolated than Panochoria, and has about 50 residents. You will find it on the road from St. Euphemia of Pylaros to the villages of Erissos. There’s no way not to stop in Neohori to admire and photograph the magnificent view to Ithaca, the sea channel between the two islands, but also other small islands between Ithaca and the coasts of Central Greece.

The Square of Neochori is called “Paliourano”, by its residents. There, is situated the parish church of Neochori, the Virgin Mary Myrtidiotissa.
