British Cemetery in Drapano

It is located on the edge of the bridge of Devoseto from the side of Drapano in Argostoli. The first reports inform us that the cemetery was already used since 1681. Here there are the graves of British citizens who lived and died in Kefalonia, most of whom certainly from the period when the island was under British rule in the 18th and 19th century. The funerary monuments that adorn the cemetery are of great value and make your walk there, basically a tour in an outdoor gallery. Characteristic is the monument of the family O’Toole, by sculptor George Bonanos. In 1943, during an air bombardment by Italian, extensive damage took place, but with the care of English residents of Kefalonia, the cemetery was slowly restored.
