Virgin Mary in Livathinata
The ruins of the old village of Kefalonia before the earthquake are still standing today in many parts of the island to remind us of the beauty and give a picture of the past. In the narrow streets, in the trees that emerge and the wild vegetation where the residents live, many treasures of inestimable value are hidden. Such a treasure is the church of Virgin Mary in Livathinata outside of Sami. The exterior walls are preserved almost intact and a large part of the roof remains intact. You will admire the ornate temple and the ancient frescoes. In a corner, there are always the icon of Virgin Mary and a little candle to reminds us that there is still life here.
