Kourtaki

The village Kourtaki is built at an altitude of 300 meters, it belongs to the municipality of Messini and is 34 km away from the city of Kalamata.

The village economy is based on the cultivation of olives, vines and fig trees and farming is generally the main occupation of about 80 permanent residents. Near the village Kourtaki there are the church of Saint Athanasios and the church of Agia Paraskevi in ​​location Kamari and they were founded during the Byzantine Empire. The church of Saint Nicolaos is also remarkable.

Pano Mavri Lake and Kato Mavri Lake (Lykotrypa) are the two lakes of outstanding natural beauty, formed by the waters of the river Karya. Except for water snakes, crabs also live in freshwater of both lakes that you will find near Kourtaki .

Of course you can enjoy swimming there, relax admiring the beauty of the landscape but when you leave, you should take with you what should not be left in the nature … your garbage!
