Municipal School of Music of Kalamata

The Municipal School of Music of Kalamata is to the north of the square of Ypapanti, in Kalamata , on the corner between Alexandraki street and Villeardouinou square under the castle. It is housed in a three-story neoclassical building of the 1860s , where the first Elementary School of Kalamata and other schools were housed.

The Municipal School of Music of Kalamata offers music knowledge in classica and traditional music, Byzantine music and modern jazz. Hundreds of children every year entrust their music education at the Municipal School of Music of Kalamata within a cultural environment that apart from organized music lessons offers concerts, workshops, seminars, lectures and all kinds of cultural events.

Since 1985 till today more than 10,000 students have studied in Municipal School of Music of Kalamata and internationally renowned soloists, members of Greek symphonic orchestras, singers of the National Opera, composers -members of the Greek Composers Union and university professors have also taught there.

The Youth Symphony Orchestra, Little Orchestra, the Triphonic Child Choir and other groups of Municipal School of Music of Kalamata make their appearance not only in front of the audience of Kalamata, but also in neighboring cities, Athens and abroad.
