Mousounitsa

In the southwest of the village Athanasios Diakos or Ano Mousounitsa, is situated the village Mousounitsa. Moussounitsa is located at an altitude of 900 meters on the eastern slopes of Vardoussia in a valley formed by a tributary of Mornos.

There are two versions about the name Mousounitsa: The first wants to takes its name from the muse Ourania (affectionately Ouranitsa), as the area was of the Muse Nitsa with corruption that became the village Mousounitsa. According to the second version of a chief shepherd divided his property to his two sons with the one creates Athanasios Diakos and the second Mousounitsa.

In the center of the village, there is the church of the Assumption, while in the edges of Mousounitsa the visitor can see the small chapels of Agios Ioannis and Agios Nikolaos. In summer in the chapel of Agios Elias that is located above Mousounitsa, a festival takes place against the backdrop of the lake Mornos.

At the entrance of Mousounitsa, there is a folklore museum, at the space that was previously the school of the village, while Palia Vrusi is ideal for rest and coffee, which in the early 60s supplied with water all homes.
