Ammoudi

Ammoudi is a group of bays, which is located not far away from Lefkogeia village of Rethymno prefecture, about 32 km from the Rethymno city, 4 km from the Plakias.

 The first small and picturesque beach that welcomes the visitors in the area is called Great Ammoudi or simply Ammoudi. In about 100 meters, there is the beach of Micro (small) Ammoudi, which is the most famous beach on the island among nudists.

Ammoudi has thick white sand that impresses, while the emerald clear waters are ideal for diving and underwater exploration. Near the beach there are many tamarisks, where you can find shade and take a rest.

The Great Ammoudi beach is suitable for serene swimming, since it is the more organized than the other nearby beaches, offering umbrellas and sunbeds. Moreover, there are rooms to let and small traditional taverns in the area, as well as a school for scuba diving.

Ammoudi can be reached by walking from the eastern end of the beach at Damnoni, following a dirt road.

The beach Schoinaria is right next to Ammoudi and can be recommended for calm baths as well.
