syros - Hospitals - Health Centers
Syros is the capital of the Cyclades and as a big town, Ermoupolis has a hospital that serves the needs of all the islands of the archipelago. The General Hospital of Syros "Vardakeio and Proio" is located in the city center, has a 110 beds capacity and belongs administratively to the 2nd Y.PE. (Health District) of Piraeus and Aegean. Built in the mid 20th century, thanks to the legacies of Ioannis Kyriazis Vardakas and Konstantinos Stamatis Proiou and began operating in 1958. The hospital covers almost all the pathological and surgical specialties, and its laboratories are equipped with modern machinery and scientific equipment that provides support to all departments. The hospital also has a Dialysis Unit with 10 beds, covering the needs of the residents of the Cyclades and the visitors.
There are no health centers in Syros, but in the biggest villages operate regional and municipal clinics, such as the Regional Medical Center of Finikas and the Municipal clinics in Kini and Galissa.
