Kokkina

On Syros, north of Phoenix Beach and approximately at a distance of 1.5 km lies the isolated beach Kokkina or Sousouni.

In contrast with the bustling and organized beach of Phoenix, Red is an unorganized narrow beach with sand and pebbles. That’s why the visitor would choose it should be equipped with the necessary from the nearby village of Phoenix. It is sure that the umbrella is unnecessary as there is a lot of shade that offer armirikia arriving until the seaside.

Because of its geographical location, Kokkina is protected from the northerly (known to all winds) prevailing in the Aegean mainly in August.

The access to Kokkina, which took its name from the red pebbles and rocks that surround and define the beach, is realized only with own transport and via a good dirt road.

Opposite of Kokkina is Psathonisi, one of the uninhabited islands around the island of Syros
