Papouri

Papouri is one of the two smallest settlements in Syros, together with Chalndriani, as in the small village stay just 4 residents. Located in the northern part of the island, called Ano Meria and is the less populated. The few inhabitants are engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry and maintain the life in the village.

You will find Papouri immediately after the somewhat larger settlement Myttakas, which is the “crossroads” of Ano Meria. The route from Myttakas to Papouri passes by the village’s patroness, Our Lady Kardiani, from the area Senero that is through the vegetation and Saint Panteleimon, one of the many churches in the area.

Among the most mountain villages of Syros, Papouri in Ano Meria is built at an altitude of 232 meters and has endless view to the sheer coasts of the north, the wild landscape of the island.
