Phoenix
Phoenix is a village of Syros and is located in the bay of the homonymous large bay in the southwest of the island. It has about 700 inhabitants, located 12 kilometers from Ermoupoli, 5 km from Galissas and is very close to Posidonia. The bay of Phoenix, was in antiquity a Phoenician port – to them owes its name.
This is one of two natural bays of Syros, along with Ermoupoli and so Phoenix is a port for private boats, smaller and larger, and has a marina to moor. Phoenix are also conducted various water sports and races of sailing.
The beach at the village of Phoenix is sandy and fully organized. Opposite to the beach, one can reach the island by boat Psaxno, with its beautiful beach, where they found traces of the Cycladic civilization. Within walking distance of the Phoenix is the beach Kokkina, which is small and isolated.
The church of Agios Panteleimon is the main church in Phoenix and annually on 27th of July takes place a big festival.
The Sports Club of Phoenix has one of the best volleyball team (volleyball) in Greece.
