Kathiana

Kathiana is a village of Chania, which was owned by 2010 in the former municipality of Akrotiri, just 12 km from the city of Chania. It is located at an altitude of 140 meters above sea level, while the residents are about 350 and engaged in agricultural work, viticulture and animal husbandry.
In the village of Kathiana, there is a unique traditional cafe, one of the few of its kind in Akrotiri, where it is worth to drink your coffee. If not, succeed and some of the fine local dishes of the famous Cretan cuisine are sure to sit down and enjoy them as soon as they come out of the fire!
If you find yourself in Crete in autumn, away from the chaos and traffic of summer, remember that in September Kathiana take place in the square, which is properly configured for this reason, events devoted to grapes, the harvest and pressing. The great tradition of Kathiana in wine and raki will impress you!
