Marathi

Marathi is a small coastal settlement, next to one of the most famous beaches of Chania. It is located 17 km from the city of Chania, to the northeast, on the Akrotiri peninsula.

Taverns and restaurants, but also cafes can be found around the beach, which is the main reason that the visitors prefer Marathi. Essentially, it has two beautiful sandy beaches, separated from the picturesque harbor in Marathi. They are organized and have everything that you may need one.

Around the beaches there are also holiday accommodations for rent, for those, who choose Marathi as a holiday base in Chania – if looking for quiet and relaxing days by the sea, or idyllic evenings on the seaside.

As the water is shallow in Marathi, the settlement is preferred for family holidays and the beach attracts many children, there may be glad the sun, sand and sea.

Off the beach in Marathi, about 500 meters from the coast, there is a rocky island that one can reach, if not swimming, then with the help of a marine bike, from those which are hired in the sand.
