Museum of Marine Wealth and Fishing Tradition

The Museum of Marine Wealth and Fishing Tradition is located at the picturesque seaside village of Kolimvari, 24 km from Chania. The exhibits hosted in the Museum do not only preserve the fishing tradition of the Greek people over the years, but also highlight the wealth of the Greek islands and the Greek sea.

Every visitor can be immersed in the world of knowledge, the history and the magic of the story behind fishermen, through fishing and its methods.

At the Museum of Marine Wealth and Fishing Tradition you can see replicas of fishing vessels, tools used for their construction, traditional navigation equipment and ship repair.

The ancient anchors, harpoons, the small flashlights, the fishermen’s tools, and the various collections of fish, shells, sponges, echinoderms and other aquatic organisms that are all exposed in the Museum of Marine Wealth and Fishing Tradition attract every visitor’s attention and interest to discover the wealth of the seabed and the Greek seas.
