Prodromi is a very small mountainous village in the prefecture of Chania and belongs to Kantanos – Selino. It is located 13 km north-east of Paleochora and is 73 km from the city of Chania. Prodromi has about 40 residents and the few houses of the village are built at an altitude of 520 meters above sea level.
In Prodromi, the visitors can admire the Byzantine churches of the village. Besides, the name Prodromi, took by the small church of St. John the Baptist, which is located there. The view from the chapel to the Libyan Sea and Gavdos is unobstructed and it’s worth to reach as there to be pleased.
The visitors at Prodromi should not forget to visit the ruins of the nearby town of Ancient Yrtakina. There are signs at various points leading the way there. This dirt road, but is in good condition and the path after Prodromi has a length of five kilometers.
