Palaiochora – Cave of the Nymphs – Vathi

Follow the path from Perachori and the old church of the village, to find the medieval “Chora” and the cave where – according to Homer – Odysseus hid his phaeacians gifts, when he finally reached his home, Ithaca. The path has been maintained and is especially easy to walk, offering an amazing view of the bay of Ithaca, the Ionian sea, all the way to the coast of mainland Greece. The picturesque path will take you through the ruins of the most important medieval settlement of the island, where the main church with its imposing bell tower still stands. After an hour of a pleasant hike, you will reach the Cave of the Nymphs, and after a while – Vathi.
