Kokkino

Kokkino is a village of the municipality of Messini, built at an altitude of 531 meters. The village with the strange name Kokkino is 46 kilometers away from the city of Kalamata . Only about 50 permanent residents live now in Kokkino, located on the western side of the Messinian peninsula, at the foot of Mountain Lykodimos.

Kokkino is a beautiful mountainous village with traditional stone houses, surrounded by trees. Its location offers to its residents and visitors the advantage that in less than half an hour, they can visit the nearby beaches and enjoy swimming , such as the beach of seaside village of Kalamaki which is 12 kilometers away, or the nearby towns of Koroni, Methoni, Pylos, Finikounta.

Kokkino borders n the east with the villages Gamvria, Lykissa, Agnanti, on the west with Ampelokipoi and on the south with Militsa.
