Frati Gorge

The Frati gorge in the prefecture of Rethymno starts 23 kilometers southeast of the city of Rethymno, near the village Frati and is considered one of the great gorges of rare beauty and ideal destination for nature lovers.

The Frati gorge that is parallel to the Kourtaliotis gorge, close to which its exit lies, crosses the Ksiro Mountain.

The river that flows through the Frati gorge joins the Kourtaliotis and, having formed the Megalos Potamos (Grand River), continue their path together all the way down to Lake Preveli, ending at the Libyan Sea.

Frati gorge can be hiked on foot, but it requires swimming at many points.
