Titos Petychakis square

The Titos Petychakis square in prefecture of Rethymno is located inside the Old Town, at K. Palaiologou Street.

The Titos Petychakis square consists of few sites in a row that functioned as squares in the past. When Rethymno was under the rule of the Venetians, there was a square at one point of K. Palaiologou, which was abolished during the Turkish occupation, when the Turks demolished a whole building block and created a new one called Meidani.

Today the Titos Petychakis square (also called Platanos) is full of cafes, restaurants and taverns. There are the Neratze Mosque, which houses the Conservatory, and the Rimonti Fountain in close proximity to the square.
