Agia Marina

Agia Marina is located nine kilometers west of Chania and is one of the most popular resorts in Crete. In front of the village, you will find the homonymous beach with the lovely sand and the turquoise waters.

The beach of Agia Marina is excellent and extends to the beach of Stalos. It is populous and well organized. On the western side of the village and close to the harbor of Platanias, visitors will find small artificial bays, ideal for swimming.

The beautiful cave of Nerospilia, with its rich decoration, is located approximately 1 kilometer away from Agia Marina.

Across from the beach of Agia Marina there is the island of St. Theodore, which however cannot be visited. On this island you can only go once a year, on the day of the celebration of the temple, which is built there.

At this small island at least 100 Cretan wild goats, known as Kri – Kri, have found shelter, therefore it has been declared as a protected area.
