Astratigos

Astratigos is a picturesque village that belongs to the municipality of Chania and it is located 25 km from the city of Chania and 4 km from Kolimbari (or Kolimvari), which is part of the municipality of Platanias. Astratigos is located in the north – western part of the island of Crete. The small village offers a panoramic view of the bay of Chania.

Near the village of Astratigos there is another village, Afrata, with a beautiful beach: Afrata coast is a beautiful, quiet little beach, not organized, but perfectly suitable for swimming thanks to the its crystal clear waters.

If you ever find yourself at Astratigos, remember passing from the neighboring village of Kolimbari, in order to visit the Monastery of Panagia Odigitrias that was built in the 17th century and is one of the most important monasteries and monuments of Crete.

Astratigos, according to the latest census, in 2011, has 52 residents and belongs to the district Rodopou, part of the municipality of Platanias.
