Beaches in Gialiskari

The isolated beaches in Gialiskari, also known as Gianiskari or Dialiskari, are certainly among the most beautiful beaches of Crete. Gialiskari is located four kilometers east of Paleochora and 80 km south of the city of Chania.

It is a group of three tranquil coasts forming the easternmost beach of Paleochora. The beaches in Gialiskari are pebbled with deep waters and organized with umbrellas.

Another beach is Ammoudia or Anidri. It is formed at the exit of the gorge that starts from the village Anidri located nearby. It is less well known than the beaches in Gialiskari and it faces south. It has beautiful waters and sand, but it is not organized.

The beaches in Gialiskari are preferred by nudists, as most beaches of Paleochora.

The beaches in Gialiskari were very popular with hippies in the 1970s. They used to walk from Paleochora to the beach and stay there for a few days.
