Stomio beach

Stomio beach is 74 km at south of Chania and just one kilometer away from the Monastery of Chrisoskalitissa next to the homonymous village.

Stomio village and beach took their name from the estuary (“stomio” in greek) of the river that flows there in winter, which supplies a large water reservoir near the beach.

Stomio beach is not organized and the majority of visitors to the area does not prefer it. It has large pebbles, while the water is very cold and deep. In the southeastern part of the Stomio beach a beautiful pine forest extends and continues to the mountain.

Stomio beach is located next to the road that connects Chania with Chrisoskalitissa.

Next to Stomio beach there is an old gypsum factory, which has now been abandoned. Near the factory you will see the ruins of old buildings, but also the picturesque church of Agii Theodoroi.
