Strati
The village Strati is built at an altitude of 650 meters, near the village Temenia of Paleochora. The village was named so, apparently from the known name Stratos and is referred in official documents as early since 1577. The area Strati has lush vegetation and abundant running water, creating a beautiful small waterfall.
In the village Strati was operated watermill, whose traces are lost in the early 20th century. It was located in a strategic point on the path connecting Kantanos to Paleochora. Today only parts of the shaft carrying water to the mill and its main site.
In Strati live permanently about 15 residents and the small settlement belongs to the municipality of Kantanos – Selino of Chania.
In the neighboring Temenia is located the homonymous beverage factory, thanks to which had been became known all the region and Strati was one of the many destinations that attract visitors in Chania and especially in Paleochora with its beautiful beaches.
