Megali Ammos

Very close to the airport of Kefalonia is the Megali Ammos beach, in the bay of Argostoli. As its name describes, it is a sandy beach, with golden sand both on the coast and in the seabed.

The crystal clear blue waters of the Ionian Sea in the exact point of the beach are shallow, which makes the Megali Ammos ideal both for kids and for adults. It is a beach that the locals from the nearby Livatho villages prefer for their daily dives.

The beach of Megali Ammos is organized with sun loungers, parasols, showers, it is accessible by car via a paved road, while in its one end, to the south, there is a small anchorage for the fishing boats of the locals.

If you choose to arrive in Megali Ammos with your car, there is parking area just above the beach.
