Statue of Nikos Kavvadias

The statue is located at the end of the beach of Argostoli in a small square with bench, right after the old pool. One of the most important Greek poets, the sailor Nikos Kavvadias comes from Fiskardo, where you can see the family home. As a child, he lived with his family for some years in Argostoli.

Who has not sung “Macheri”, “Stavros tou Notou”, the “Karanti”, the “Fata Morgana” and did not travel in the seas of the world with his poems? The local people honored the artist and placed his statue next to the sea he so loved gazing eternally the boats that come and go…
