Arkadian Gorge

The Arkadian gorge is one of many gorges of Rethymno prefecture. It starts north of Arkadi monastery and ends at the village of Pikris.

With dense vegetation and of immense natural beauty, the Arkadian gorge is a home to representative species of Cretan flora and fossils, while the Arkadian river or else Arios river, which runs through it, ends at the village of Pikris, watering the fields and setting watermills to work.

The Arkadian gorge ends at the village after a 2 hours’ hike through an enormously beautiful landscape.
