Chania Airport

The Chania International Airport “Ioannis Daskalogiànnis” is located 14 kilometers from the city of Chania. It is connected with daily flights to Athens, Thessaloniki, some of the Aegean islands and Cyprus. Especially during the tourist season (April to October) the Chania airport receives charter flights from various foreign cities.

Chania airport’s international IATA code is CHQ. It has a duty free shop, a long and short term parking and easy access to the city: either by one of the intercity buses of Chania, by the special public bus, or of course by taxi. The route takes about 20 minutes and costs approximately 20 Euros. The taxi stand is situated just outside the Chania airport premises.

Ioannis Daskalogiànnis, who gave his name to the Chania airport, was a Cretan rebel, who was active in the 19th century against the Ottoman rule.
