Dramia

Dramia is a coastal village and part of the municipality of Apokoronas. The village is located on the border of the prefectures of Chania and Rethymnon. Dramia is situated 45 km from Chania and only 5 km from Georgioupolis, which is the most crowded resort village of the area. Dramia is a region from where visitors have the opportunity to admire the view of the Kournas valley and the White Mountains, while the beach of Episkopi is only 500 meters away.

Dramia is one of the villages of Chania that have developed their tourist infrastructure. Visitors can find all kinds of accommodation -rooms to rent and hotels- as well as restaurants and cafes. Public transportation to and from Dramia is very good, and the bus routes in Chania but also in Rethymnon and Heraklion, serve the local public transportation.

From Dramia, it is easy to visit the south side of Apokoronas, and more precisely Sfakia, Loutro and Agia Roumeli. The lake Kournas is at a very close distance and only 1 km away you can find the village of Kavros, which has all the services one may need on vacation.

Archaeological excavations in Dramia have brought to light traces of the city of Hydramia. This city was founded in the Minoan era and flourished in the Roman times. The residents of the village even claim that in front of the beach, parts of the ancient city are submerged.
