Elos

Elos is a quiet and picturesque village, full of plane and chestnut trees. It is built at an altitude of 560 meters above sea level and it is located 24 km from Kastelli and 57 kilometers from the city of Chania.

Elos is one of the most beautiful villages of the province of Kissamos. You can find the settlement as you move towards the beautiful beach of Elafonisi and it constitutes a nice place to do your shopping for the lunch. In the local taverns of Elos you will be able to taste the authentic Cretan cuisine.

The running water from the numerous springs that are everywhere in Elos and the shade of the tall trees cool the visitors even in the middle of the summer season. At the cafes of the central square, you can relax under the shade of trees before continuing your journey, which ends most of the times at the wonderful beach of Elafonisi, with the crystal clear and deep blue waters and the golden sand of the coast.

The facilities of the old aqueduct behind the central square of Elos and the small church of St. John constitute the attractions of the village and are reminiscent of the very old history of the village.
