Georgioupoli beach

The beach of Georgioupoli is part of the vast sandy coast of total length of about 10 km, and is located in front of the homonymous town.

Georgioupoli is a tourist resort located 38 km east of Chania and 21 km west of Rethymno. It is a small coastal town, built in a green valley, full of rivers and springs.

The beach of Georgioupoli stretches two kilometers east of the river Almyros all the way to Kavros beach which is its natural extension. The coast of Georgioupoli is sandy with large dunes and shallow waters. It is very well organized with a lifeguard and is ideal for families with children.

However, if it is windy, you must be careful because of the sea currents. On the beach you can enjoy water sports and horse riding on the sand.

Georgioupoli beach, 700 meters east of the port is crossed by the river Perastiko and, from then on, widens to the east.

The part of the coastline of Georgioupoli near the river is known as Peastiko beach and is very green.

Because of the rivers, the sea in Georgioupoli is extremely cold.
