Kera Beach

Kera beach is located 20 kilometers east of the city of Chania,on a wooded slope between Kalyves and Almyrida. It took its name from the picturesque church of Virgin Mary Kera, who according to legend once saved the locals from a pirate raid.

The coast in Kera combines golden sand with pebbles, while rocks stand up at its ends. The sea is crystal clear with shallow waters. Kera beach is not organized, although there are several options for accommodation and food in the surrounding area. It is definitely an ideal choice for those who do not like crowded places and prefer calmness.

Kera has a view to the east of the island Karga where many sea birds find refuge. In the west there is a rock that the locals call Karavos because it looks like a boat.

Virgin Mary Kera is a picturesque church of the 19th century which is located near the beach of Kera and is worth a close look.
