Agia Paraskevi in Kinopiastes

It is back in the year of 1571 when we find the old testimonies concerning Agia Paraskevi in Kinopiastes which stands on a hillside in the village of Kinopiastes  in Corfu. It is considered a «Holy Retreat» and it was firstly built where, the ruins of the old monastery are today, one hundred meters from the contemporary monastery. In the beginning it was a hermitage for men but, today it is a monastery for women.

The Sanctuary of Agia Paraskevi in Kinopiastes is dedicated to Agia Paraskevi while the impressive church tower of Corfiot style, dominates from a long distance. On the plaque on the Sanctuary is inscribed the year 1833 which is the year that Agia Paraskevi in Kinopiastes was restored.

Agia Paraskevi in Kinopiastes is built with a single aisled basilica rhythm with an internal narthex. The icon of Agia Paraskevi dates back to the 18th century and it is filled with numerous votive offerings from the faithful. In the monastery you will also see a part of the right hand of Agia Paraskevi which is kept there.

The Holy Retreat of Agia Paraskevi in Kinopiastes is celebrated on July 26.
