Monastery of Agia Eythimia in Anemomylos

The Monastery of Agia Eythimia in Anemomylos is one of the most ancient monasteries of Corfu. It is located in the end of the bay of Garitsa, at the top of a verdant hill with an endless view of the sea.

It is a convent and it is believed that it was founded before 1478. In fact, for the foundation of the Monastery of Agia Eythimia in Anemomylos it is said that it was created after an indication of the Saint in the dreams of two nuns, who also erected the new monastery at the point where, the old one was, while in the rubble they found her icon intact.

Since then, until today the Monastery of Agia Eythimia in Anemomylos operates with coenobitic system, despite the adversities it faced over the centuries.

The Monastery of Agia Eythimia in Anemomylos is celebrated twice a year, on the 11th of July and on the 16th of September.
