Monastery of Agios Dimitrios
The Monastery of Agios Dimitrios is situated in the village of Agioi Douloi, in the northern part of Corfu. Its Sanctuary is devoted to Agios Dimitrios Myrovlitis and is celebrated on the 26th of October. In this position there was already a temple from the 16th century but, the monastery was founded in the beginning of the 20th century.
In the Monastery of Agios Dimitrios the father Theodoulos Krasakis lived, one of the ascetic figures of Corfu, particularly beloved and charismatic. His simple grave is in front of the chime of the Sanctuary.
Today the Monastery of Agios Dimitrios is a nunnery, while the nuns are engaged in hagiography, the making of vestments and the cultivation of the olive grove which surrounds the installations of the monastery.
