Lake of Tychero

The Lake of Tychero is artificial and is on the limits of the homonymous village, in the region of Soufli, 4 km from the banks of Evros. It was created from the Dam of Lyra, basically in a tributary of Evros, which created a landscape of outstanding natural beauty, surrounded by greenery. The Lake of Tychero is on the limits of the Dadia Forest, one of the most important biotopes of Evros.

On the shores of the Lake of Tychero have been developed mild tourist facilities serving visitors without adversely affecting the environment and disturbing nature. The Ecotourism center of the Lake of Tychero has facilities for leisure, fitness and relaxation that meet the needs of all, being an alternative holiday suggestion in the green, within short distance from the two protected areas of utmost importance for Greece: the Dadia Forest and the Evros Delta. In the Ecotourism center of the Lake of Tychero are still some rare fossil findings f the area, which the visitors can admire. Nearby, as well, (about two kilometers) lies the Petrified Forest of Fylachto.

In the Lake of Tychero visitors can go canoeing, while in the evenings of August is organized here the Youth Festival of Tychero.
