Koulourata

The village Koulourata belongs to the municipality section of Sami and it is located in the northern part of Kefalonia.  Koulourata is built on the provincial road that connects the two ports of the island, Sami and Poros, and you will meet them close to the largest village Pyrgi and Grizata. It is 24 kilometers from Argostoli, Kefalonia’s capital to the east. It is a lowland settlement, built on 217 meters altitude, in the verdant nature of Kefalonia. The village, according to the last census in 2011, has 27 residents.

Koulourata is a starting point for a series of hiking trails, as it is in close position regarding Mouzakata, the martyr village of Sami, which had been destroyed and burned by the Nazis, in 1943. Today, only ruins remain to remind us that life once had existed here … It is also most known the path Koulourata – Antisamos, resulting in the famous beach of the area and is often organized by the mountaineering club of the island.
