Sfinari beach

Sfinari is a beautiful sandy beach with pebbly parts in some places and one of the few beaches on the west coast of Crete that is preferred by those who want to relax away from the crowds.

Sfinari is located 60 km west of Chania and 30 km south of Kissamos, in front of the village, which is situated at the exit of a green valley surrounded by beautiful high mountains.

In Sfinari there are several accommodation choices and food facilities and the beach is ideal especially when the wind blows from the west. There are also trees, where you can find shade. To get to Sfinari you have to take the suburban bus either from Chania or Kissamos.

If you are on the beach of Sfinari, it is worth following the steep uphill path that leads behind the rocky outcrop of Cape of Korakas, to the south of the beach. The view is great and on the other side there is a beautiful beach, Platanakia, which is completely secluded and generally unknown. To get to the coast you should be careful as the descent is steep.
