Agios Gordios

Agios Gordios is a small, seaside settlement in the western part of the island, well known mostly because of its lovely beach and the natural environment surrounding it. On one side there, is the cliff of Aerostatos with its panoramic view, which in the old days used to be Vardia, a watch tower, observing the movements of pirates. In the southern part, you will see the distinctive cliff, which rises above the sea, named Ortholithi  or Megalo Tholeto.

Agios Gordios is one of the most visited, touristy destinations and it offers numerous lodgings, hotels and rooms for you to rent. In the center of the village you will find super markets, touristy shops, internet cafes, a taxi-stand and a bus stop from where, you can go to the center of Corfu. You will also find restaurants with Greek and foreign cuisine, fish taverns, bars, coffee shops and an ATM machine. Finally, you can also rent a car or a motorbike.

Agios Gordios was named after the homonymous church, which is located in the center of the beach, next to the shore. We do not know when this church was built but, it is mentioned in written sources from the year 1714.
