Corfiot Stage
The Corfiot Stage is a theatrical society which was founded in 1970 as a continuation of the older, amateur, theatrical Society, the historical «Society of Drama». All these years it has staged dozens of works from Greek and international repertoire and has distinguished itself in many Theatre Festivals. The turning point in the history of the Corfiot Stage is the production of «The Trojan Women» of Euripides in 1994 as it was the first time that a local, amateur troupe staged a tragedy in Corfu.
The Corfiot Stage presents every year one of the most characteristic customs of the carnival in Corfu, the Petegoletsa, a theatrical happening in the Old City where, you can enjoy the Corfiot dialect in all its greatness.
