Kinopiastes

Kinopiastes is a lovely, picturesque and large village in the inland. It is filled with old mansions dating back to the 17th century. The houses, painted in the traditional pastel colors, the narrow, paved alleyways and the small hidden squares make Kinopiastes one of the most beautiful villages of the Corfiot countryside.

In the main square of Kinopiastes, you will see the church of Panagia with the impressive entrance made of marble and the murals of the Ionian Islands School of the 18th century. You must also visit the monastery of Agia Paraskevi  from the 17th century which is located on the outskirts of the village.

In Kinopiastes is also situated the one and only in Corfu, Olive Museum, this significant tree for the people living in the Corfiot countryside. Kinopiastes is known for the quality of its drinking water – something rare in Corfu – but, also for the traditional taverns which serve delicious pastitsada, sofrito , bourdeto  and dishes from the local cuisine.

Near Kinopiastes are situated some of the most popular beaches of the island such as Ai Gordis, Glyfada  but, also close to Achillion  in the beautiful village of Gastouri.
