Simotata

 Simotata of Kefalonia is the village located under the Great Soros, the highest peak of Enos, but also all of the Ionian Islands (1,629 meters altitude). Simotata is built at the foot of the mountain, at an altitude of 205 meters. The massif of the mountain towering above them and the landscape with beautiful fir trees is magnificent. Simotata belongs to the municipal section of Leivathos of the municipality Kefalonia and has 154 residents, according to the 2011 census.

From Simotata, passes the provincial road that connects the capital of Kefalonia, Argostoli, with its eastern port of Poros.

It is close to Lourdas Beach, one of the best in the area. It is sandy and very long, gathers a lot of people, while there are often organized beach party and sports tournaments. Nearby, there are also the beaches Trapezaki, St. Thomas, Ai Helis and the villages Lourdata, Vlachata and Moussata.

Simotata is known for delicious cheese produced by residents, the known feta of Kefalonia.

The cultural center of the village “Red Rock” does great work in various fields of art, culture and environment in the village.
